Information for Health Professionals

Information for Health Professionals

Surehealth is a locally based charity for the benefit of the community established in April 2007. Its aim is, to offer support to people with chronic health problems and particularly to those people who are disadvantaged in some way whether socially, financially or otherwise.

It is known that health generally, and particularly chronic ill health, is positively influenced by appropriate changes or additions to daily life activities. Thus, those who are down or depressed may be helped by meeting others in some joint activity, those with chronic heart or lung conditions may be helped by regular gentle exercise or movement. The same may be true for those with chronic musculoskeletal problems.

With this in mind, support is offered mainly in the form of classes and includes a suitable range of therapies: Yoga, Stress Management and Relaxation, Tai Chi and Pilates. There is also a group for Yoga in pregnancy, and Massage and Aromatherapy, and Medical Herbalism, are available on a one to one basis.

These services are aimed particularly at those who would not normally be able to access such therapies on grounds of cost or local non-availability. People can attend as often or infrequently as they wish and currently pay £2.50 to attend group activities and £5.00 for individual therapies.

It is intended that Surehealth work together with primary and secondary health care providers particularly by providing feed back about our activities. In this context it is intended to evaluate the classes on a regular basis and make changes or additions accordingly. It is also hoped that GPs and consultants will in from suitable patients about the activities of Surehealth.

All therapists and tutors are well qualified and experienced in this field of work and enter into a contract with Surehealth governing working practise.
