What is Yoga?

Yoga is a complete system which improves and develops every aspect of our lives.

  • Yoga postures make the body stronger, healthier and more supple.
  • Breathing techniques improve vitality, as well calming the mind and balancing emotions.
  • Dharana (meditation practice) brings clarity, stability and focus.
  • Deep relaxation reduces the damaging effects of stress, giving time for rest and healing.
  • Yoga creates balance in life.

Regular practice will make you healthier, happier and better able to cope with the stress and strain of modern life.

Yoga during pregnancy

Practising yoga during pregnancy is a useful preparation for the birth experience. You will learn breathing techniques, which may help facilitate greater control of the breath during labour. Gentle posture work will provide exercise to help increase flexibility and build strength. During this time of change in your life some people suffer from tiredness and stress, relaxation practises may help to relieve this.

Yoga for Pregnancy helps you to prepare for the birth and your new life with your baby, resulting in a feeling of well-being in body, mind and spirit.

Following yoga for pregnancy sessions..... some comments made by students:

"I did not realise how stressed I was until I relaxed".

"I've had a banging headache for 2 days and now it has gone".

"The stiffness in my lower back is much better and my back and shoulders generally feel much easier".

"The cooling breath is really soothing and calming"

.... after relaxation.... "That is the best rest I have had in about 2 weeks".

"Todays practices to open up and release the chest area have helped my indigestion - it's gone!".
